AN inventive couple turned an old London double-decker bus into a home for just $32,000.

The 1957 Routemaster was given to Hope and Manny Hernandez by a client to renovate into a place they could live in.

Hope told Indy100: “It was very dirty with spiders everywhere. We had to tear everything out and start from scratch.”

On the ground floor, it has a living space, a kitchen with a gas cooker and a bathroom with toilet and shower.

And a wood-burning stove installed under the stairs helps heat up the bus.

The top floor is the bedroom which fits a twin-sized bed and has a cushioned seating area.

The inside of the bus is mainly white with blue accents and has wooden elements such as the flooring and drawers for storage.

The outside of the 280 sq ft bus still looks like what you’d see in London with it being repainted red during the renovations.

The project cost just $32,000 – less than a VW Golf – and took seven months to do in 2020.

The couple also converted an old Amazon delivery van into a slick tiny home.

They have documented all of their work on TikTok where they have over half a million followers and almost four million likes in just one year.

Hope and Manny are encouraging people to try out “van life” with them because of its environmental benefits.

In the US over three million people live in recreational vehicles otherwise known as ‘VanLifers’

Manny said: “This lifestyle allows you to be a lot more conservative when it comes to the environment. I’m learning that you don’t need as much water or electricity as you think you.

“I feel like if everybody lived like this, the world would be a better place”.

Their newest conversion project is a yellow school bus in Massachusetts that is expected to be finished by the end of the year.

The couple hopes to get a warehouse soon to work out of and hire extra employees so that they can start working on multiple projects at a time.
