A MAN has shared how he turned an old 90’s van into the perfect tiny home on wheels for £5,600.
The DIY fan said the project was always something he always wanted to check off his bucket list.
Drew shared the transformation in a YouTube video online.
He said: “I restored this 1990 Chevy G20 Conversion Van into a modern practical and affordable camper van decked out with pretty much everything you could ever need on the road.”
Drew explained the previous owner had taken a lot of risks with the van which included mistakes that he had to fix.
He said: “It’s always funny when you dig into somebody else’s work and you see some of the artistic liberties they took just to get things to work and at this moment you’re swearing that you’re not going to do anything similar and once you get halfway through the build you’re like… I could just make it work.”
Once Drew had properly cleaned out his van he was ready to get started with his own renovations.
He started by installing solar panels so he had an energy source
Drew said: “I’ll have 300 watts of total available solar power on here.”
The DIY fan then insulated his roof before installing a ceiling.

He said: “I’m just using these standard eight foot cedar fence boards that I got at Home Depot after sorting through the pile pretty good.”
Once his ceiling was complete Drew could start installing lighting. Drew started installing walls so that it would be easy to install amenities like a bed and cupboards into the van.
Next Drew installed his handcrafted flooring which was topped with vinyl while the sides were covered in carpet or black silicone.

Drew installed his own cabinets that he made from scratch and this would form storage space for his kitchen.
The DIY fan even had space to add hidden storage which slides out to produce his flat screen TV.
Drew designed his bed so that it sits on the floor at the back of his van, when pulled out, otherwise he has a comfortable sofa to sit on.
He also added an authentic oak wooden counter and even tiles in his kitchen. The final step was to install a water pump so that he could have access to running water.
In total Drew spent six weeks renovating the van and spent £5,600.
Drew said: “This is by far the coolest and most practical thing I’ve ever built and I’ll be using it a ton this summer. The build took me six weeks of working 10 or 12 hour days.”
“As for total costs, the van itself cost me $6,000 [£4,800]and then I had to pay about $3,500 [£2,800] to a mechanic to get it safe for the entire renovation. “All my receipts added up to just under $7,000 [£5,600].”
