THOUSANDS of Hyperoptic broadband customers were left without internet during a huge nationwide outage.

At around 3pm on Friday, nearly 3,000 users of the internet provider experienced issues with their broadband connection, according to Downdetector.

But by around 3.45pm, the company confirmed issues had been resolved as reports plummeted to below 300.

It tweeted: “The issue was a large-scale one, we worked on the resolution as fast as we could and the connection should be back now. Thank you for your patience while were addressing this and we’re sorry for the trouble caused!”

Hyperoptic has been contacted by The Sun for comment.

    The Broadband Connection Service Status page is not loading as thousands of users flock to the site to monitor issues.

    Disgruntled Hyperoptic customers are complaining about their service on Twitter.

    One wrote: “Tried to call. Position 521 in the queue. Hung up.”

    Another chimed in: “How long will this take please? Working from home here.”

    The company tweeted: “Hi everyone, we are currently experiencing a severe outage affecting a number of different post codes, along with our website hosting servers.

    “We are working on it as we speak, with more updates to follow.”

    According to Downdetector, nearly 3,000 Hyperoptic customers are unable to use the internet.
