WITH the nation on standby to open up after lockdown, the hospitality and tourism industries are having a jobs boom.
Both were badly hit by Covid, but hotel and holiday park vacancies are up 35 per cent on last month alone, while catering and hospitality has seen a 157 per cent spike.

According to jobs board Adzuna, there are 9,125 hotel roles available nationwide, almost 1,000 in holiday parks and more than 18,000 in catering and hospitality.
Tourism contributes around £106billion to our economy and supports 2.6million jobs.
While many roles are entry level, both catering and tourism offer fast progression into management.
Nicola Oyston, 37, is head of holiday sales at Green Hill Farm Holiday Village, near Landford, Wiltshire.
She has spent her whole career in tourism, including ten years at Butlin’s.
Nicola said: “I started in a sweet shop pulling ice blasts and serving Mr Whippy ice creams.
“I’m now in charge of a team of ten people at one of the most popular holiday parks in the UK.
“Working in travel and tourism is a fantastic career. You see people at their happiest. It is an amazing and fun job where you meet loads of people from all walks of life while living in one of the most beautiful locations in the UK.
“You also work in a team who all want the same thing, which is to give your customers the very best experience and memories that last a lifetime.
“If you are considering applying for a job in the industry, you don’t need set qualifications. But you do have to think on your feet and be prepared to go the extra mile for your customers. The only thing that is challenging is dealing with the British weather.”
There are thousands of flexible positions — evening, weekend and also part-time shifts — to fit around other commitments.
Pay ranges from minimum wage to more than £60,000 for the manager of a top hotel. VisitBritain director Patricia Yates said: “The UK’s tourism industry offers a hugely diverse and exciting range of career opportunities and in some pretty fantastic destinations and locations too.”

Lifeboat callout
THE RNLI wants applications for on-the-spot fundraisers in the UK’s top seaside resorts.
There are more than 200 paid full and part-time positions with the lifeboat charity.

HIT the career bullseye with a job teaching archery.
It has been voted the sport most people want to try – and a surge in post-lockdown bookings means hundreds of new instructors are now needed across the UK.
