YOU won’t be the first one to delete a message on Facebook and later realise you need it.
Little do many people know, there are actually some ways to try and recover them.
If you’ve made this common mistake, see if these tips work.
1. Check archived conversations
If you archived a conversation rather than completely deleting it, you should be able to recover messages very easily.
All you need to do is find the contact in question and as soon as you open it, everything should return.
2. Check your email
If you receive email alerts from Facebook Messenger, then you might find what you’re looking for in your inbox.
Do a search and see what comes up.
3. Android file manager

There’s a sneaky way you might be able to recover messages if you’re on Android.
And it’s all to do with the cache and file manager.
If you don’t have a file manager app already, you can download a free one from Google Play.
Once you’ve got one, open it and go to Internal Storage, followed by com.facebook.katana, then fb_temp.
Here you should see any messages from recent history.
4. Download Facebook information
Facebook has a handy data download feature on its site where the messages you seek may be lurking.
Open the settings and go to Your Facebook Information, followed by Download your information.
Select a date range – keep it as tight as possible as it could take a while to download otherwise.
Hit Deselect All and manually tick Messages only.
Finally, tap Request a download at the bottom and it’ll be emailed to you once ready.
5. Ask the person
The very last option is to just ask the person for a copy of the conversation – if that’s a doable option of course.
