The app launched way back in 2019 and combines catch-up and live TV services from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

It does this by offering all of the channels on your average telly alongside shows from catch-up services such as iPlayer and My5.

Freeview tuners, which are found in most TVs, give you access to more than 100 channels once you stick in an aerial.

This content is available live and on-demand from these channels to browse in one place via the Freeview app.

The software also offers a way to streamline your hunt for something to watch.

there is a traditional programme listing that shows every channel and what’s currently on air.

But the home screen also shows a selection fo Watch Now and Watch Later shows from the U.K’s biggest broadcasters.

There is also the bog-standard search bar and filters to narrow down what it is you’re looking for.

You can try the app for free yourself by heading to its page on the Apple App Store.

And that’s not all…

If the Freeview app doesn’t tickle your fancy, you can always try Amazon’s free streaming app.

Freevee, previously known as IMDb TV, offers a collection of hundreds of TV shows and films available on-demand.

The streaming platform operates similarly to Netflix, Amazon Prime or Disney+.

The app is different to those behemoths, however, in that you don’t need to pay a subscription fee to use the service.

Instead, Freevee is supported by ads. Like YouTube, it costs nothing to use but you’ll have to watch an ad or two every so often.

As well as content on-demand, FreeVee boasts more than 60 “Fast Channels” that stream episodes of some shows live.

This part of the app works more like more traditional broadcast TV channels and is dedicated to popular series.

Ads pop up in a similar fashion to those on terrestrial broadcasts, playing at regular intervals throughout.

The platform has a so-so selection of classic series featuring Babylon 5, The A-Team, Baywatch and Magnum P.I.

Amazon has also pumped money into original content, including Bosch spinoff, Bosch: Legacy and Plan B’s High School.

Amazon says that it will increase its exclusive Originals lineup by 70 per cent this year.

In the U.S., you can watch Freevee on a dedicated app available on mobiles, smart TVs and consoles.

In the U.K., you can only watch Freevee through the Prime Video app on mobile, TVs and consoles.
