How to get £5 off your McDonald’s order this week

FAST food fans are in for a treat this week as McDonald’s is offering the chance to claim £5 off orders.

The chain has launched the deal to help customers combat Blue Monday, but fans can save up to a third-off all week long.

Today (January 17) is believed to be the most depressing day of the year which is how it has come to be known as “Blue Monday”.

McDonald’s has launched a week-long offer to raise customers’ spirits though, and help them save on their favourite snacks and meals.

Those that have the free My McDonald’s app have been met this morning with a message that reads: “Brighten up Blue Monday!”.

It teases the offer that the chain is running this week.

You have to spend £15 first to redeem the money-off, but it means you can save as much as a third on your order total.

The catch though, is that you have to venture out the house to pick up your order.

The £5-off-a-£15-spend can only be claimed with orders picked up in store.

So you order on the McDonald’s app, making sure your total amounts to at least £15, before applying the discount and heading out to pick up your meals.

You don’t need to type in a code but remember to add the offer button before you checkout or you’ll miss out on the savings.

The deal is running from January 17 all the way through to January 22, meaning you’ve only got from today until Saturday to claim too.

But the spend and save offer works on all menu items during that time.

You can get £5 off breakfast options, as well as main menu favourites from nuggets to burgers – and it even works on new menu items such as the new McPlant.

With the catch of spending at least £15 to first qualify for the discount, it means you’ll be forking out a minimum of £10 at the fast-food giant.

Of course, if you weren’t planning on buying over a tenner’s worth of food from McDonald’s in the first place, you won’t be making a saving – so it’s important to factor that in before you find yourself going over budget.

Remember it’s only valid for mobile orders too, so you can’t claim your fiver off with a drive-thru order or by ordering in-store.

If you can’t make the trip out but are still looking for a saving though, McDonald’s is also offering 20% off online orders as part of the pick-me-up deal.

It’s slightly less money-off offered than in the collection deal, but there’s no minimum spend, though you will need to factor in any additional delivery charges applied when you order.

It also only works one time, and just like the £5-off deal, you only have until Saturday to claim.
