A HOME is hiding an incredible secret behind a bookcase after a £9,000 transformation.
Its owner did not want a conventional living room so she came up with a different idea- can you guess what is it?
Libby Freeman, from Brighton, has transformed her previously dark and spooky basement into a glamorous cocktail bar that is accessed by a secret bookcase door.
The 39-year-old jewellery designer didn’t want the room to be centred around a TV and she says that she wanted to have a cool space where she could hang out and play music.
Libbey added: “The basement was the selling point of the house. I saw it and immediately thought I could do something really cool with that.
“I wanted a living space with a twist. I call it the secret underground cocktail bar.
“I would describe the room as tropical 70’s chic.
“Apart from having the bookshelf door made, the room plastered and the electrics and radiator installed, I did all the decorating myself.
“It was hours of painting so that was hard work, but luckily I’d already done a fair bit of decorating in the past, so it helped loads with the basement.
“The project cost £9,000 including all of the furniture and the secret door.”
Meanwhile, a woman has spent 20 years covering her home in a giant tattoo-style mosaic.
A mum spent £10k turning her “tired” garden into an outdoor paradise fit with a hot tub, fire pit and cosy lounge area.
And a dad has built the ultimate man cave complete with a James Bond-style secret door and a wood-burning stove.
