Home Depot second-quarter sales rose 6.5% as higher average spending per shopping trip more than offset another drop in transactions.
The home-improvement chain said Tuesday that the average amount spent per transaction rose 9.1% during its second quarter while the total number of transactions fell 3%. Home Depot’s transaction tally has fallen in each of the past five quarters, unable to keep pace with a surge in home-improvement activity during the first year of the pandemic.
