A GYM chain with 230 locations has announced it will close one of its busy branches permanently.
Xercirse4Less’ Falkirk premises in Callendar Square Shopping Centre will shut its doors forever in just a few days.

The gym, which is part of JD Gyms Group, announced the closure earlier this week.
A spokesperson said: “Due to the ongoing decline and closure of the Callendar Square Shopping Centre, we are really sorry to tell you Xercise4Less Falkirk will be closing permanently on Sunday, December 17 at 8pm.
“We really didn’t want to close but it is out of our control.”
However, its not all bad news as memberships will be automatically transferred to JD Gyms – giving them access to 10 gyms in Scotland.

They explained: “To thank you for your support, we will freeze your Direct Debit in December, and you will pay nothing until January, giving you a month free, so you can try out all the JD Gyms clubs across Scotland.”
“From January, your membership will continue, no contract, and you’ll see your Direct Debit go out to JD Gyms. If you do not wish to be a member at JD Gyms, please cancel your Direct Debit with your bank.”

The retail sector has been hit hard in recent years due to the growth of online shopping, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the same time the cost of living has been rising, leading to shoppers cutting back on non-essential spending.

Although, some chains have managed to defy high street troubles and are actually set to open new shops.
These include discount chains like Poundland which is set to open 15 shops in the coming weeks and Greggs which is aiming to open 150 new sites this year.
