BAKERY giant Greggs is under fire after fans have learned one iconic festive item will not be making a return this year.

Greggs unveiled its highly anticipated festive menu earlier this week and it’s now available in shops nationwide.

Food lovers can now get new festive sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, seasonal sweet treats and even a Christmas soup.

But Greggs fans have expressed widespread outrage after learning the iconic Vegan Festive Bake will not be available this season.

The Vegan bake was a take on the popular Festive Bake which has returned this year.

The Vegan bake was filled with savoury flavour Quorn mycoprotein pieces, sage & onion stuffing balls vegan bacon crumb and a creamy sage and cranberry sauce, all wrapped in a warm puff pastry shell and sprinkled with breadcrumbs.

After Greggs unveiled its new menu fans took to X formerly known as Twitter, to express their frustration.

One user said: “What do you mean there’s no vegan festive bake this year? Greggs WHYYYYY?”

Another said: “Gutted to see there’s no vegan festive bake this year, why??”

“No vegan festive bake? Wow, I thought we had something you and I,” said a third.

Greggs has explained the new Spicey Curry Bake is meant to act as a substitute bake for Greggs Vegan fans this year.

A Greggs spokesperson said: “This year, we’ve introduced our brand-new vegan Spicy Veg Curry Bake to add a little spice to the festive season!”

“As well as this tasty new bake, our customers can enjoy a range of other vegan, festive items including our Vegan Festive Baguette and Sweet Mince Pies.”

The savoury treat is made with mixed vegetables, chickpeas and rice with a sprinkling of chillies, all combined with a warming curry sauce.

It costs from £1.95 or as part of the Savoury and Hot Drink deal from £3.20.

But it seems fans have not taken to the new menu addition at all.

One user said: “I was absolutely gutted when I went into Greggs this morning and there was no Vegan Festive. I’ve been waiting all week for this. I’m not even a vegetarian.”

“The spicy curry bake has nothing to do with Christmas and is completely rubbish. What have you people done?!”

Another said: “Seasonal spicy kick?! Wtf, I don’t want a curry veg bake, I want my vegan festive bake back.”

Greggs has once again turned Christmas dinner favourites into a handy, enjoy on-the-go soup.

The new soup is made with diced smoked bacon, pork sausage, chicken, turkey, sage and onion stuffing and vegetables, blended with a mix of herbs and spices.

You can pick it up for just £2.20 or part of the Soup and Savoury Deal, from £3.20.

The Vegan Turkey-Free and Stuffing Baguette combines sage and onion plant-based goujons, coated in onion gravy and garnished with a classic cranberry and onion relish.

Fans can grab it for £3.70 individually or as part of the Hot Sandwich Deal with wedges and any drink, from £4.80.
