LOOKING for screen-free ways to entertain the family over Christmas?
Sales of board and card games and jigsaw puzzles are booming as parents try to keep their kids amused without them getting square eyes from their phones, consoles, tablets and the telly.
Here are some of the best deals.
THE CLASSICS: The big retailers are heavily discounting classic games to shift them before Christmas.
Aim for at least 25 per cent off. Argos is offering Mousetrap for £15, down from £20, Scrabble, £13.50 from £15, and Cluedo, £16 from £20.
COMPARE: Trendy new games such as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? or Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel come at a premium, but some shops are discounting them — compare prices on Google Shopping.
At B&M, Millionaire is £6 cheaper than at Next, and for The Wheel, Zatu Games has it for £22.79, £5.20 cheaper than at Waterstones.
BUY SECONDHAND: Try eBay or your local Facebook Marketplace for good second-hand editions at a fraction of shop prices. A pre-owned but pristine edition of Settlers Of Catan is just £16 on eBay. In Smyths, it’s twice the price.
CARD TRICKS: Playing cards are cheaper than board games but just as fun. The Works has packs for £1. Go Fish, Rummy and Crazy Eights are firm family favourites and you can easily find the rules for them online.
And here’s an offer, Love Top Trumps? Sun readers can get 25 per cent off all packs on the website winningmoves.co.uk with the code SUNSAVERS.
NEED MORE? Tekscore Goal’s 21-in-1 table from liberty games.co.uk has 21 games built in, including chess, draughts and dominoes, plus more active ones such as pool, football and basketball. It’s now £149, down from £179.
PUZZLE PRICES: The Entertainer has some great jigsaw puzzles at half-price or less. A 160-piece Spider-Man one was £9 but is now £4.50, and best of all, the Disney Frozen 3D Ice Castle puzzle is £5, down from £15.

WORRIED about your bank card being stolen?
The contactless spending limit has risen to £100 but many banks will, if you want one, let you set a lower cap by phone or on their apps.
Halifax, Starling, Lloyds, Bank of Scotland and Santander are among those that do.
