GOOGLE users have spotted a little surprise on the company’s search engine when entering two words.

The tech giant is known for hiding so-called “Easter eggs” around its apps and services – and now there’s one for the upcoming solar eclipse.

We’ve previously revealed how a secret game pops up in the Google app for iOS that users can unlock by entering a special tap gesture.

Even Google Maps has some unexpected tricks up its sleeve – try using Street View over the mysterious Area 51.

But some Easter eggs are planted temporarily to mark big occasions.

And the latest event Google has jumped on is the solar eclipse.

A rare total eclipse is set to be visible across parts of North America on April 8, while some areas of the UK and Northern Ireland will see a partial eclipse.

People looking for information about the moment are greeted with a little surprise on Google’s search engine.

“Love a Google Easter egg,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Try it, you’ll like it!” another said.

How to see the solar eclipse Easter egg on Google

All you need to do is type “solar eclipse” on Google Search and an animation will appear on your screen.

You can do this within the Chrome browser on Android and iPhone too.
