IF you’re potty about penguins, fascinated by fish or soppy over seals, then you should definitely head to SEA LIFE Hunstanton.

It was meant to be a day out for the kids, but we grown-ups certainly won’t forget our visit in a hurry.

I got to throw bucketfuls of fish to the hungry seals in their enclosure, where they happily waved and jumped to touch their noses on the end of a pole in return for their fishy treats.

We also got the chance to go behind the scenes at the seal pup hospital and learn a bit more about what goes into looking after their special patients.

The seriously cute pups were certainly a sight for sore eyes. It’s clear that the friendly and knowledgeable staff really care about them and are passionate about rehabilitating them and returning them to the wild when they’re ready.

Even my usually fidgeting kids, Hugo, five, and Lucy, two, sat and calmly admired the almost floor-to-ceiling aquarium.

It’s full of all kinds of pretty and funny-looking fish, a giant turtle and small sharks, plus a puffer fish that we hoped would balloon up and show us its spikes.

The kids particularly liked popping their heads up inside the domes that made you feel as if you were in the water — but without getting wet.

They also enjoyed going through the tunnels in the outdoor otter enclosure — and my husband walked through the transparent tunnel that takes you straight through the tank a good few times, too!

SEA LIFE Hunstanton also offers the chance to learn why it’s so important that we look after the extraordinary sea creatures. It really is a jewel in the crown of this popular seaside town.
