ADVENT is here – so it’s time to whack up the Christmas tree.

Don’t worry if you can’t afford the huge fir flaunted by Gemma Collins on Instagram this week. Shops sell trees for all budgets.

Get the right Christmas tree for your home without breaking the bank with our tips

Here are my top picks . . .

SHORT ON CASH? Ikea is selling real trees for £29, with a £20 voucher to use in January. So if you use that, you’ll get a tree for just £9. Dunelm also has a 6ft tree for £18 — a complete steal as most cost at least £30.

Save: £12 at Dunelm

SMALL SPACE? For tighter spaces, Argos has 4ft trees for £12 and a 6ft space-saving, slim- line “pencil tree” for £25. It’s great for tucking into a corner. Or Wilko has a £45 tree, down from £55, that looks like it’s been cut in half, so it sits flush against the wall.

Save: £10 on Wilko tree

LOVE THE TRADITIONAL? The more you pay, the more needles you’ll get. Check out Homebase’s 25 per cent off deals. Its 7ft Aspen pine is £120, down from £160, and its snowy Vancouver trees are £112, down from £150.

Save: £40 on Aspen pine

FEELING LAZY? Avoid untangling fairy lights with Wilko’s silver pop-up, pre-lit tree, just £25, down from £35. Argos does a green one for the same price.
Or Robert Dyas’s Duchess pre-lit tree is £69.99, down from £104.99.

Save: £35 on Duchess tree

WANT A FUNKY TWIST? Go mad with a multi-coloured rainbow tree from Wilko, £30 down from £35, or John Lewis’s novelty balloon tree, £25.

Save: £5 on Wilko tree

BABIES OR PETS A PROBLEM? The parasol tree, £50 from Argos, stops them reaching the baubles. Or get a felt tree to stick to the wall, £6 at Hobbycraft, a huge saving on a standard £30 tree.

Save: £24 with Hobbycraft

SAVE THE PLANET: You can rent a real tree from a local farm, which will collect it later and replant it for next Christmas. One Essex supplier rents out blue spruces for £40.

  • Prices correct at time of going to press. Deals and offers subject to availability.
