IN June 2023, players were massively disappointed after it was announced that one of the best free games would be taking a hiatus.
Originally released in 2022, thousands of players have enjoyed the game and even spent money on in-game characters and cosmetics.
Despite this, MultiVersus was delisted after the 11-month open beta, meaning that all in-game content became almost worthless until the game’s return.
MultiVersus’ servers shut down in June 2023 and the game was removed from stores, so only players who had downloaded it previously could continue playing offline matches.
Because offline play was retained, these players were not entitled to any refunds on the in-game items they had purchased during the open beta.
The announcement statement claimed the hiatus was to add to “the content cadence of new characters, maps and modes to give you more ways to enjoy the game, along with updated netcode and more matchmaking improvements.

“We’ll also be reworking the progression system based on your feedback and looking at new ways for you to connect with your friends in the game.”
The team claimed that the platform battler would return in 2024, and people’s in-game purchases would return with the game.
Finally, a release date has been announced for MultiVersus’ return, and people will be able to return to MultiVersus on May 28, 2024.
The team has announced some of the content and changes that have been made during the hiatus.

MultiVersus has been completely rebuilt in the Unreal Engine 5, presumably giving it better performance and graphics.
A new PvE mode will also be added, and more ways to earn rewards.
People were enjoying MultiVersus before its hiatus, so many are thrilled that they will be able to get back into the game.
MultiVersus will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
