Plenty of supermarkets will offer you money-off for creating an account for the first time and completing your first shop.

Typically, once you sign up, you’ll be given a discount code that you can use straight away on your very first order.

This is usually the case for online orders anyway – you can’t normally put it to practice in-store.

But even online it’s a welcome help, as rocketing costs hit the most hard-up.

Rising inflation means the price of everything on the supermarket shelves and online is going up.

The average family is thought to be forking out around £271 more a year on their food bill.

Meanwhile, Tesco estimates the that same household throws away £800 worth of food a year, which is taking a big hit on weekly grocery bills too.

The crisis has left plenty worrying where they’ll find the funds to cough up for the next bill through the door, or simply to get food on the table.

So every little helps – and a bit of money off here, and a discount there, can quickly add up.

It is always best to shop around when you’re hunting for the best deals, so we reveal what each supermarket is offering to entice you in.

You don’t have to stay loyal to one shop every time you need to restock the cupboards, after all.

But keep in mind that you’ll need to check out prices and bargains on the actual products you need from these stores.

You shouldn’t splash out just because you’re offered £20 off your first shop, for example – you might end up spending more than you would elsewhere because of higher product prices at that store.

In the meantime, here’s what you can get, just for signing up.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s shoppers can get £15 off their first shop when they sign up.

It has to be on an online order that’s delivered on or before June 30, and you have to spend at least £60 on that haul.

It doesn’t matter what you add to your basket though, from food, to toys, to homeware.

You need to register and fill in your details, then rack up an order that meets the minimum spend and apply a code to get your money off.

Type in “SSEO22JUN15” when prompted and you’ll score a saving on that first shop.

It doesn’t work for any shops beyond that though, so you can’t use it again.

Iceland

Iceland is offering £5 off orders that tot up to at least £45 online.

You get the money-off, after the first time you sign up, so you need to be a new customer.

To claim, you have to make sure your basket meets the minimum spend requirement before applying the code “ICEFIVEOFF”.

You also get free next day delivery with gives you peace of mind of one less extra spend on top of your order as costs soar.

Morrisons

There’s £10 you can get off your shopping bill at Morrisons the first time you sign up.

The budget supermarket asks you spend at least £50 to qualify though.

Once you enter your details to register for a new account at Morrisons, you’ll spot a banner pop up at the top of the page that tells you everything you need to know about claiming your money-off.

You’ll get your very own code that you need to enter at the checkout once you’ve put together a bill that comes to the minimum spend requirement.

Ocado

Shoppers can save £20 by signing up to posh online shop Ocado.

You then get the money off your first grocery shop with the stor, so long as you spend over £60.

Just like Iceland, you get the added bonus of free delivery with your money off perk too.

To claim though, you need to enter “VOU3144132” at the checkout.

The offer is time senstitive too, so it won’t stick around for ever.

You’ve got a little longer than some of the other examples though, as the discount doesn’t end until September 9.

If you prefer to shop in-store, there’s a trick you need to try as soon as you enter the doors to slash your spends.
