The UK’s inflation rate dropped to 7.9% in June, meaning prices of everyday essentials are still rising but at a slower rate.

This could mean that even if your employer does give you a wage rise, it could immediately get wiped out by rising inflation.

As many people look to side hustles to bolster their household incomes, others may also be considering switching jobs to something that is higher paid.

This isn’t always easy, especially if extra qualifications are required, but some jobs have risen beyond the rate of inflation and pay up to £28K, and you don’t even need a degree to be considered.

The data has been obtained by looking at job postings for new positions on the Indeed jobs site, rather than people currently employed in these roles.

The areas of work with the biggest increase in salary since last year are registered nurses, support workers, and vehicle technicians.

All three of these roles saw an increase of 13% on last year’s advertised wage.

Other roles such as store manager saw a 10% increase on last year.

This is an example of where experience would count for more than qualifications.

The salary for a store manager has increased from £25,564 to £28,000 on average since last year, according to Indeed’s figures.

For example, discounter Aldi increased store assistants’ pay to £11.40 per hour from July 1, and £12.85 per hour for workers within the M25.

This new starting wage is more than 13% higher than it was a year ago.

As well as receiving the highest hourly rates in the supermarket sector, Aldi workers are also paid for breaks.

Other roles where you might be able to switch without extra qualifications include housekeeper, receptionist, administrator and sales assistant.

According to Indeed, you can earn over £20K in all of these roles, and all of them have seen an increase in what you can earn based on last year.

If you’re looking to change roles, it’s a good idea to tidy up your CV.
