TEN former Wilko stores are re-opening as Poundland stores TODAY.
Wilko fell into administration on August 10 putting its more than 400 stores and 12,500 staff members in peril.

But a number of rivals have bought dozens of the retailer’s sites since, including Poundland.
The new shops will mostly feature Poundland items but also a selection of Wilko products not sold during the closing down sales.
The retailer has purchased 71 locations, with the first 10 opening on September 30.
And a further 10 pulled up their shutters for the first time today.

The following English and Welsh Wilko stores started welcoming customers in for the first time today:
- Nottingham Street, Melton Mowbray
- Bank Road, Matlock
- Welsh Street, Chepstow
- The Kimberley Shopping Centre, Greens Lane, Nottingham,
- High Street, Worcester
- Civic Way, Marina Walk, Ellesmere Port
- Cary Lane, Brigg
- Fore Street, Redruth
- Victoria Road, Ferndown
- Crane Street, Torfaen, Pontypool, South Wales
Poundland is encouraging former Wilko staff to apply for roles at the new shops, saying it will “prioritise” them for jobs.
Meanwhile, the discounter plans to open all the former Wilko stores it has bought by the end of 2023.

It comes after B&M also purchased 51 stores which means more Wilko shops will be reopening in the near future.
It’s not yet confirmed which branches, but previously the retailer said it’ll give an update in November.
Meanwhile, The Range has snapped up the Wilko brand, including the name and website, as part of a £5million deal.
A message has since appeared on the Wilko website telling customers home delivery is “returning soon”.
How to save money at Poundland
With budgets tight at the minute, you’ll want to save wherever you can.
And if you’re a Poundland regular, there’s a few tips you will want to take note of to save money, according to Tom Church.
The co-founder of the Latest Deals website said to start by looking out for dupes.
Crocs, for example, can cost around £45 a pair, but Poundland’s Pep & Co alternatives are just £8.
Meanwhile, you can snap up perfume dupes for just a few pounds instead of around £100.
Make sure you shop in your local Poundland store first thing too.

Tom said staff have previously told him that’s the best time to visit as they replenish stock overnight.

And last, don’t be afraid to haggle for better prices if you’ve found an item cheaper elsewhere.
