ANYONE thinking of purchasing the iPhone 14 when it lands on 16 September might want to hold their horses.
That’s because the latest announcement did leave some fans disappointed that there weren’t more substantial updates over previous models.

Here are three reasons why you probably shouldn’t buy the latest iPhone.
Upgrades are minimal
If you have an iPhone 13, it’s almost certainly not worth upgrading.
While some were expecting the updates on the iPhone 14 to be more groundbreaking, many were disappointed not to see anything remarkably innovative in this release.
The camera, for instance, is one area most expected to see a big update but didn’t.
The iPhone 14’s main sensor is larger with bigger pixels and with a faster aperture but other than that it remains the same as on the iPhone 13.
Those who already own a fairly new iPhone might benefit by holding out until the iPhone 15 arrives in 2023.

Design has changed
The iPhone 14 has seen a few design tweaks over its predecessor that not all iPhone fans will enjoy.
For one, the screen is now taller and slimmer, which should make the phone a bit easier to grasp with one hand but won’t be to everyone’s tastes.
The other big design change is the new pill-shaped cutout instead of the familiar notch, which takes up more space on the screen.
If money is tight
The fact is, smartphones are lasting longer these days.
Apple is updating iPhones all the way back to the iPhone 7 with its new iOS 16 software.
That means you get new features and security updates for phones that are years old.
The only thing that really starts to suffer is battery life.
But you can buy a battery replacement from Apple for $79/£79 – far cheaper than upgrading to a new iPhone.
If you’re strapped for cash, consider doing that instead.
Alternatively, even mid-range or older phones are still good.
