IT’S the weekend for making your mum feel extra special.

But you don’t need to spend big on Mother’s Day to show you care.

With a little time, you can create gifts that are meaningful, without a whopping price tag. Here are some ideas . . .

HAMPER: Creating a basket of your mum’s favourite goodies can be scaled up or down depending on your budget.

Start with a £3 felt flower basket from Flying Tiger.

Line the bottom with some coloured tissue paper or shredded coloured paper to make it look more presentable.

For an easy win, simply add in Mum’s favourite chocolate bar, plus a mini bottle of pink fizz.

A mini bottle of Sainsbury’s Taste The Difference sparkling rosé is on offer at £2.25, down from £2.75.

Choose a range of pics of you and your mum and pop into an album or stick on to a scrapbook with some written descriptions and funny anecdotes.

TEA TIME: If you’re feeling creative, you could paint your own mug to give to Mum. Then every time she has a cuppa, she’ll think of you.

The Works and The Range both sell kits for £3 or less.

You don’t have to be great at art, you can just paint out the word’s “Best mum” and add a few decorative flourishes, such as hearts.

SUPER SCRUB: It’s Mum’s day to be pampered — and a homemade body scrub should help.

Use an old clean jam jar with labels peeled off for the packaging.

Then buy a pack of brown sugar (£1.80, Tesco) and scoop out around enough to fill three-quarters of the jar.

Mix in a bowl with around a quarter of the jar’s worth of coconut oil (£1.99, Aldi).

Then pour into the jam jar. You can add a couple of drops of essential oils, too. When you’re finished just tie a ribbon around the top of the jar.
