SPEEDY HOT DOGS: Sloppy hot dogs make for a delicious family meal.

Buy a pack of pork sausages, £1.79, a bag of wonky peppers, £1.45, 1kg of onions, 95p, a jar of wholegrain mustard, 69p, plus a 6-pack of hot dog rolls, 89p, all Aldi.

Slice the veg, season and add to the slow cooker with the sausages and a tablespoon of mustard.

Cook on low for six hours and serve on the buns.

CHARMING CHICKEN: A warming chicken and rice dinner will fill the whole family.

You need a pack of chicken thighs, £2.29, paprika, 79p and two packs of microwavable rice, 42p, all Lidl.

Season the chicken and coat in a few tablespoons of paprika and place the thighs in the slow cooker skin side up.

Cook on low for around six hours.

Serve with the microwaved rice for a fast dish when you get through the door.

VEGGIE CURRY NIGHT: The warming smell of curry will hit you when you get in from work.

Get a jar of Plant Chef tikka spice sauce, £1.20, two tins of chickpeas, 55p each and a pack of two large garlic & coriander naan breads, £1.75, all Tesco.

Add the ingredients to your slow cooker along with any other chopped veg you need to use up and cook on low for around six hours.

Heat the naan bread for a few minutes following the instructions on the packet and cut to share.

MEXICAN FEAST: Pick up a pack of chicken breasts, £4.70, a tub of fresh tomato salsa, £1.10, a bunch of coriander, £1 and a pack of wraps, £1, all Asda.

Pour some of the tomato into the slow cooker, then place the breasts on top and cover with the rest of the salsa.

Set your cooker on low for 2-3hrs and when cooked, shred the chicken and sprinkle over the coriander.

Serve with the wraps for a tasty dish.
