BE APPY: Download free app Duolingo and it can help to teach you the basics of 40-plus languages.
You progress through a series of levels, with the help of game-like lessons.
The app is easy to dip in and out of, so you can learn whenever you have some spare time.
Another free app, which offers lessons through quizzes and vocabulary games, is 50Languages.
Or free app HelloTalk matches you with someone who speaks the language you want to learn and who wants to improve their English, so you help each other.
SOCIAL LEARNINGS: If you like scrolling through Instagram, look for accounts that teach daily phrases or words in your chosen language.
