SPRING-CLEANING season is upon us.
A professional deep-clean service can cost up to £300 but you need not spend a fortune to get a home spick and span.
There are clever ways to make it sparkle . . .
GET IN ORDER: Start your spring clean journey by decluttering.
Take a bin bag and go through each room collecting any unwanted items.
Then move all ornaments and anything on surface tops to the centre of the room and work from top to bottom dusting high surfaces like ceiling lampshades and tops of cupboards first before moving down to floors.

This way debris doesn’t fall on to surfaces you’ve already cleaned.
MAKE IT UP: Forget expensive cleaning products, and go the budget-friendly DIY way and get excellent results.
Mix vinegar and water in a spray bottle to spritz over grubby surfaces and you can also use this to mop floors.
Sprinkle baking soda on carpets and upholstery to deodorise and lift stains.

Lemon juice diluted with water is a great way to cut through kitchen grease and leaves a citrus scent, while shaving foam buffed into mirrors and taps will make them sparkle.
ON THE CHEAP: You do not need fancy gadgets to achieve a spotless home.
Old toothbrushes dipped into vinegar are perfect for scrubbing grout and hard-to-reach corners, while cut-up T-shirts are an excellent alternative to pricey disposable wipes or microfibre cloths.
If you have a dishwasher, set it to a low-temp eco-wash and fill with tooth-brush holders, toys and even the vegetable drawers from your fridge to save time and effort.
GOOD SCENTS: If you have essential oils at home, add a few drops to your homemade cleaning solutions to make your home smell incredible.
For a DIY air freshener, mix a few drops of your oil with water in a spray bottle or fill up an empty perfume bottle with water.
Just shake and spray.
