WITH the cost of living going through the roof, many families are counting every penny spent.
We’ve all heard of price comparison websites for insurance and utility bills, but there are many others designed to compare the cost of everything from groceries to flights.
Here are some good ones to help slash your outgoings.
GROCERIES: Compare prices on trolley.co.uk to see which is cheapest across UK supermarkets. For example, it currently shows Persil washing liquid is reduced to £6.45 in Waitrose, but £7.50 in Asda. You can also get daily offers and price alerts, and can create shopping lists to compare the total price of your goods, with the site reckoning your annual savings will be in four figures.

SHOPPING: To compare prices online don’t just use Google Shopping, but also Pricesearcher, Pricespy and Idealo, as they cover different retailers and will help you find all the bargains. The cheapest option for an iPhone 13 Pro was £1,049 on Google Shopping, but Pricespy found an £850 deal.

FUEL: Petrolprices.com lists the cheapest petrol stations near you. A search for nearby stations in Sevenoaks, Kent, revealed a Tesco one charging £149.9p per litre for unleaded, compared to 150.9p at a Harvest Energy station — a 60p saving when filling a 60-litre tank.

FLIGHTS: Always use flight comparison sites rather than booking direct, as they include online agents’ deals. Best are Kayak, Momondo, Google Flights and Skyscanner. Skyscanner says it can save you £300 with its “month view” calendar.

CASHBACK: On cashbackangel.com you can compare the cashback and Air Miles rates of more than 8,000 UK merchants. For Currys it’s two per cent from Topcashback or one Avios point for every £1 spent, from the British Airways eStore.
