FAST-FOOD giant McDonald’s is taking breakfast wraps and bagels off the menu.

But you needn’t miss out on your favourite morning treat when you can rustle it up yourself.

Try these savvy ideas….

BREAKFAST WRAPPED UP: Make your own by heading to Aldi and grabbing a box of their Breakfast Hash Browns (£1.49 for ten) as well as their Oakhurst Pork Patties, £1.75 for six.

Grab six eggs (79p) and fry along with a slice of streaky bacon, £1.79 per 14 slices, and an Emporium cheese slice (75p for eight). Then wrap it all in one of their flour tortilla wraps, eight for 49p.

That’s a total of £7.06 and you can make at least six breakfast wraps from those ingredients, so £1.18 each.

Bearing in mind the Maccy D’s ones were about £3.09 each, that saves £1.91.

BAGEL BARGAIN: Marks & Spencer has swiftly come to the rescue of those who will miss the Maccy D breakfast bagel.

They posted the recipe on their@marksandspencerfoodpr Instagram this week and it’s been viewed more than 120,000 times.

You need an M&S sourdough bagel, toasted and halved, two cheese slices, one egg and a sausage de-skinned and pressed into a patty.

Fry the patty and the egg and build. It depends on the size of the packs you buy but this still comes in at less than the £2.19 price of a McDonald’s Bagel.

ROLL DOWN THE COST: The Greggs sausage roll is a breakfast of champions, but there’s been a backlash since the chain nudged the price up 5p to £1.05.

Make your own by using sausage meat inside pre-rolled pastry, which is super-cheap.

You could also pick up Aldi’s new Ambiano sausage roll-maker, £14.99, which people are going mad for.

But the fastest and cheapest way to make an at-home Greggs roll is to pick up the branded frozen packs at Iceland.

Get eight for £3.75 which works out at a humble 47p each — a 58p saving on each roll bought in-store.

BON PRIX: Prefer something a little lighter on the go?

Pret a Manger are famous for their buttery flaky croissants and pastries but they aren’t cheap.

A plain butter croissant is £2.15 but if you go to Tesco, you can now buy the Pret-At-Home range where a pack of six costs £3.

That’s 50p per croissant, so a huge £1.65 potential saving every time.

NO NEED TO COFF UP: If you’re a Costa Coffee fan, you will also know that your daily spend can come in at least £2.50 per day.

Instead, get a Dolce Gusto coffee machine, currently £34 down from £99.99 at Currys.co.uk and pick up a pack of Costa Dolce Gusto Compatible Caramel Latte 16 Capsules for £3 from Asda.

The payout now means a great long-term saving.
