PASTA FEAST: Give Nigella’s recipe a go. Pick everything up at Aldi and it comes to around 42p per person.

For four to six people, cook 375g of spaghetti in salted water. When it’s nearly ready, melt 50g of unsalted butter in a saucepan, add a teaspoon of Marmite and a tablespoon of the pasta water, then mix thoroughly.

Reserve half a cup of pasta water, drain the pasta and pour the Marmite mix over the spaghetti, adding pasta water if needed.

Serve with grated Parmesan.

CHEESY DOES IT: Make easy-peasy Marmite cheese whirls in a matter of minutes. Grab a pack of ready-rolled puff pastry — Aldi has this for 85p.

Preheat the oven to 220C and unroll the sheet of pastry on to a clean surface. Spread a thin layer of Marmite over the pastry and sprinkle with 100g of grated Cheddar. Roll the pastry back up.

Brush on some beaten egg to seal along the length of the pastry where the two edges join.

Slice into 1.5cm-thick rounds and place on greaseproof paper on a baking tray. Brush with more egg and bake for 15 minutes.
