THOUSANDS of Instagram fans have been left baffled this morning after being locked out of the app by a bizarre error message.

Users are being shown a pop-up that reads “feedback_required” and are blocked from viewing their feeds and messages.

It’s not yet clear what’s causing the outage, which is affecting users around the world, according to online outage tracker DownDetector.

One Twitter user wrote: “Is instagram down? i keep trying to log into my account and it keeps saying error feedback_required”.

Another said: “Hey, @instagram cannot log in to my account this morning – is there a glitch? Constantly saying feedback_required.”

Instagram does not provide any additional detail in the error message, according to screengrabs shared on social media.

It’s therefore impossible to know what “feedback_required” means.

Instagram nuts have speculated on forums that the error is related to comments or messages.

Others say that the message commonly appears when users try to put something in their bio that’s blocked, such as a web link.

Oftentimes, when Instagram is experiencing a mass fault, the error message it shows is not in any way related to the outage.

It’s therefore unclear if the “feedback required” message has anything to do with Wednesday’s downtime.

More than 3,000 people reported being unable to log in to Instagram this morning.

According to the website DownDetector, which tracks online outages, complaints spiked at around 7.30 a.m. UK time (2:30 a.m. EST).

Users in both the U.S. and U.K. are among the worst affected, while parts of Europe are also experiencing some downtime.

Many have flocked to Twitter to try to find out what’s going on.

Instagram is not letting people login again,” one user said.

“Not just me but hundreds of people facing same issue.”

Another joked: “Dear @elonmusk please buy Instagram and make sure it never crashes again.”

It looks like some have started to get service back after hours of waiting.

“After 2 hours it’s fully sorted out,” one user claimed.

This all comes after Instagram secretly changed its logo, as well as a new typeface.
