FACEBOOK users may notice something missing from their profiles next month.
The social networking giant is apparently making changes to profile shots – and if you don’t act now, a new photo will be chosen for you.

That’s because Facebook is getting rid of profile videos completely from February 7.
Instead, the site’s 2.9billion users will only be able to use a traditional still image.
Those who currently have a profile video will have it yanked after the cut-off date and swapped out for a still from the video, until they decide to upload something else.
Profile videos were introduced in 2015 to bring a bit of fun to people’s pages in the form of a 7-second looped clip.
Facebook has already quietly removed the ability to upload a new profile video.
A screenshot shared by social media expert Matt Navarra warns users that “profile videos are going away soon”.

“If you don’t replace your video with a photo, on February 7 the cover image of your video will become your new profile picture,” a popup reads.
It is not clear why Facebook has decided to give up on the feature, but usually it comes down to lack of popularity.
In more recent years, themed frames have become a more popular fixture on the platform.
By 2020, the firm also threw avatars into the mix, its take on Snapchat’s popular Bitmoji.
Avatars are certainly a major focus for Facebook’s parent company Meta now, with its plans to launch a metaverse, filled with digital versions of ourselves and the world as we know it.
