EASTER weekend is just around the corner and Tesco shoppers can bag themselves a priority delivery slot with a handy trick.

Much like Christmas, the lead-up to Easter can cause supermarkets to get a lot busier than usual.

Many stores will shut their doors on Easter Sunday, meaning shoppers will need to stock up before then.

This year, Good Friday falls on Friday, March 29, Easter Sunday is on March 31 and Bank Holiday Monday falls on April 1.

However, you can avoid crowded aisles and beat the queues by ordering your food online.

But slots tend to run out quickly during this time, like with other public holidays so it pays to be organised.

Tesco is giving customers who pay for an annual delivery pass first dibs on Easter slots.

The supermarket’s delivery plan and click-and-collect delivery plans mean customers can book their slots from 6am tomorrow (Tuesday, February 20).

This gives customers a one-week head start on regular shoppers, who will have to wait until 6am on Tuesday, February 27.

Tom Denyard, managing director of Tesco Online said: “We’re looking forward to helping customers across the UK pick up some family favourites or treat themselves to something special for Easter.”

Shoppers who sign up will also get priority access to delivery slots at Christmas.

What is the Tesco delivery pass and how do I get one?

Delivery passes allow you to pay a flat fee either monthly, yearly or six monthly, and then get your deliveries for free.

‘I bought 19 just for me’ delighted shoppers say as Morrisons slashes price of Easter eggs to just 75p

If you’re a regular online shopper, this could be a way of reducing costs.

But should only consider taking out a delivery pass if you order groceries online regularly, and if you think it will save you money in the long term.

An anytime delivery plan costs £6.99 per month for 12 months and gives priority access to both click-and-collect slots and Christmas home delivery.

Off-peak plans give you access to delivery slots after 3pm and cost £3.99 a month, or £47.88 upfront.

But the supermarket’s off peak delivery plan doesn’t offer priority access to Christmas or Easter delivery slots.

The supermarket’s anytime click and collect plan, priced at £2.49 a month, gives priority access to click and collect Christmas slots.

If you choose to pay annually, this works out at £14.49, or £1.25 a month.

Can I collect Tesco Clubcard points on my Easter shop?

Shoppers can collect and redeem Clubcard points on their Easter shop.

Tesco’s Clubcard scheme allows shoppers to earn points as they shop, these points can then be turned into vouchers for money off food or other reward partner schemes.

Each time you spend £1 in-store and online, you get one point when you scan your card or app.

One point equals 1p, so 150 points gets you £1.50, for example.

You’ll need a minimum of 150 points to request a voucher.

These vouchers can either be worth the face value to spend in-store at Tesco, or you can double their worth to spend at reward partners, including restaurants, and on days out.

Loyalty card holders can also get cheaper prices on over 8,000 items thanks to Clubcard Prices.
