Former Tesco chief Sir Dave Lewis has emerged as a director at ‘responsible capitalism’ consultancy A Bird’s Eye View.
The advisory firm – run by his wife Helena Wayth – says it operates at ‘the intersection of commercial, social and sustainable development’. Clients include Selfridges.
Wayth, previously at L’Oreal and Unilever, recently wrote about the need to ‘shift from shareholder to stakeholder capitalism’ and to move climate change, inequality and corporate governance goals to the centre of board responsibility and business strategy.

She said the Covid pandemic had moved social responsibility up the corporate agenda but warned change was still too slow. Lewis – also known as ‘Drastic Dave’ – will not have a client-facing role at the firm.

He said in 2019 that his decision to leave was a ‘personal one’, declaring that the turnaround of the business was ‘complete’, though he stayed on until October 2020 to allow a successor to take over.
In May 2020, he was appointed chairman of the conservation charity WWF-UK and in November that year he was appointed non-executive director at Pepsico. He is also on the board of the Leverhulme Trust.
