EASTER is here – so why not try something different this year?
There are plenty of alternative treats you can still nab this weekend that you won’t have to shell out too much for . . .
GIN WIN: Fancy a seasonal, sweet sip? You can nab a tasty bottle of Hot Cross Bun Gin Liqueur from Home Bargains for just £8. Billed as the “ultimate blend of sweet fruits and punchy spices”, it works out far cheaper than a similarly flavoured gin sold on Not On The High Street for £42.
SAVE: £36
TOP BUN: It’s the ultimate love or hate cupboard staple, but you can now get Marmite-flavoured hot cross buns. If you’re looking for a quirky Easter treat, snap up Marmite Cheese Hot Cross Buns from M&S for £1.65 — they also work out cheaper than buying one of M&S’s traditional Colin The Caterpillar Easter eggs, £10
SAVE: £8.35
HOPPING GLAD: If you want to give this weekend’s celebrations a nod with something simple, head to Asda where you can nab a pack of four Easter Bunny Crumpets for just £1. Similar crumpets are sold at Marks & Spencer for £1.25.
SAVE: 25p
CREME OF THE CROP: Chocolate fans in need of a change will love the Cadbury Creme Egg Chocolate Gateau. It costs £3 at Co-op and serves up to eight people. There is a mini egg version for £3 at Sainsbury’s too. The slightly bigger Cadbury Flake celebration cake is £11.50, but you could enjoy both egg-themed cakes for less.
SAVE: £5.50
SAY CHEESECAKE: If you’ve got a sweet tooth but don’t fancy chocolate, check out the Iceland Luxury Hot Cross Bun Cheesecake, £2.75. The biscuit base is topped with a baked spiced orange flavour and raisin cheesecake, finished with a salted caramel sauce and a white chocolate cross. Yum. It serves six and works as a great crowd pleaser rather than forking out for individual eggs.
