You don’t want to get caught up with a scammer in one of these schemes because they will most likely try to collect personal information from you.

If they get ahold of this information, they might try to access your bank and steal your money.

The five texts you should delete were brought to light by tech expert Keep Security on how to identify a scammer.

“You can identify a scammer by spotting red flags such as sudden requests for your personal information, grammatical and spelling errors in emails, offers that seem too good to be true, along with other signs,” Keep Security said.

A scammer’s main intention is to trick into giving them what they want you when you’re least expecting it.

Here is a breakdown of the five texts you should avoid.

1. TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

Scammers may try to lure you in with an offer that seems too good to pass up.

But that is because it is fake and meant to irk an excited feeling in you in hopes that you forget to be cautious of a scam.

If an offer seems to be too good, then you should be extra wary and maybe consider avoiding it altogether.

2. URGENCY

A sense of urgency may also be used against you by convincing you that you must act quickly on something or else there will be a consequence.

This can show up as “pay now or you will be arrested.”

Or that someone you love is in need of help right now.

3. UNSOLICITED

It should always be an immediate red flag when you receive a message from a number that you do not have saved and they begin asking you for personal information.

It is best to avoid unsolicited numbers from calls and text messages.

4. ERRORS

Usually, scammers are not the best at perfecting their spelling and grammar when interacting with you in their scheme.

They are known to be sloppy when it comes to this and if you spot tons of errors in a text message you should delete it and block the number.

5. ODD REQUESTS

If someone you do not know instantly starts requesting personal information from you this is a sign of a scam.

An official institution is not going to start asking for personal information right off the bat.
