HOUSEHOLDS can claim £150 of free cost of living cash – but you’ll have to be quick.
Millions of people living in council tax bands A-D have been entitled to a non-refundable £150 council tax rebate since April.

The rebate was introduced by the government to help households with rising energy bills.
Now, Warrington Borough Council has urged people to apply to get the rebate.
Money has automatically been sent to households that pay their council tax by direct debit.
However, those who don’t pay in this way need to apply via the council’s website.
And households in the Warrington area only have until August 8 to do this.
For those who requested before July 18 for the £150 be credited to their council tax account, this should now have happened and future payments will be reduced accordingly.
Don’t worry if you miss the August 8, deadline – you can still get the cash.
Any households who haven’t applied for the rebate by then, will be sent a cash voucher in the post which can be redeemed at the Post Office.

The council expects to issue these vouchers between August 15 and September 30.

How do I apply for the council tax rebate?
Each council decides for itself how applications are made.
Some councils will require you to apply online, while others are sending out letter to eligible households with instructions on what to do.
Remember, fraudsters might call, text or email you saying you need to provide your bank details to get the rebate.
If you are in doubt, find your council and then give them a call.
Does my council have a deadline?
The exact date you need to apply to get the money will also vary depending on which is your local council
Many councils have already shut their applications.
And others have set deadlines over the coming months.
For example, Erewash Borough Council’s deadline is August 31 and South Derbyshire District Council has one for September 21.
North Kesteven District Council has set one for September 23.
If you you are unsure whether your council has a deadline, your best bet is to see if your council has more information on its website.
Councils should be providing residents with information about the rebate – and will tell you if there are any deadlines to apply.
If you have missed a deadline, don’t worry, you shouldn’t miss out – instead you’ll be given a £150 credit on your council tax account or you might be sent a voucher.
