A CRUMBLING house with damp walls and disgusting rooms that’s buried in an overgrown jungle has sold for double its price estimate.

The three-bedroom Wales property was one of the cheapest on the market when it was listed for £32,000.

The home boasted double bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a pantry and a rear garden.

But, the property was covered in foliage so bad the windows were not visible, and the back garden was so overgrown it was inaccessible.

Not only would the buyer need a green thumb to bring the home back to its former glory – but the inside would be no easy job either.

Its windows are boarded up, paint is peeling from some walls, and others are crumbling and damp.

Some rooms are held up with arrow props, while the open lounge is dismal and dark, and the kitchen and pantry are mouldy, dusty and falling to pieces.

But, the renovation project caught the eyes of many, attracting more than 60 bids in an auction and selling for a whopping £63,500.

Unsurprisingly, neighbours in the village were holding out someone to rescue the home.

Angie Davey, of Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions, said the idea of a project attracted the dozens of bids.

She said: “Property investors and developers were able to see through the current condition of the overgrown property and were be able to visualise it transformed into a lovely large family home.”

Angie said buyers weren’t deterred despite the house being encased in climbers and the ceiling being held up by jacks in various places.

She said: “Paint is peeling and wallpaper is hanging from the walls. Having said all this there is real potential in this large, semi detached home.

“Make no mistake, this is a major renovation project but with money and imagination it could be turned into a lovely family home after a complete refurbishment.

“The garden is overgrown and currently inaccessible. It’s a real jungle but it has huge potential. ”

The property originally made headlines last month when it hit the market for £32,000.
