A COUPLE bought their dream cottage after spotting what they thought was a BODY hidden in a bed in one of the advertising photos.
Louis and Gen Eveleigh laughed at the mystery body picture before going on to purchase the tumbledown stone cottage to transform into their perfect escape to the country.
They first spotted the property in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales after seeing a questionable photograph of the bedroom online.
The estate agent picture showed the bed covered in a pink sheet with huge lumps and bumps underneath.
It is unclear what was under the bed sheet during the taking of the photo, but the couple were curious to find out.
Louis said: “We were unhappy with where we lived – schools with growing classes and poor performance, and stressful jobs.
“Why we considered viewing it then still makes us laugh. There were no great pictures, the rooms looked tired and pokey.
“And then there was the photo of what looked like someone who had died and been covered over with the bedclothes.”
The couple decided afterwards to view the home – now 12 years later, they’ve spent over a decade creating the perfect family home surrounded by stunning scenery.
“It clearly needed a lot of work doing but it was exactly what we wanted – a blank canvas to create our home,” said Louis.
The property dates back to 1750 when it was once two separate farm worker cottages.
A second storey was added in 1829 with a grant from the nearby church and still boasts a slate floor and walls made of local riverstone.
The home has now been filled with upcycled furniture and vintage finds – with Louis handcrafting salvaged wood.
