Man, 44, arrested after one man died and another was injured in incident early on Sunday

Counter-terrorism police are leading an investigation into the suspected murder of a man and the assault of another after an incident in Hartlepool in the early hours of Sunday.

No terror incident was declared and it is understood none is likely to be. Police said inquiries were continuing into a possible motive for the attacks and investigators were keeping an open mind.
