COSTA has confirmed that its “best drink ever” has been axed – with shoppers begging the chain to “please keep it all year round”.

Fuming customer Ciaran asked Costa why some of its stores still serve the Iced Whipped Latte, while others do not.

A spokesman said: “Hey! This is part of our summer menu.

“It shouldn’t be served in store anymore as it’s been discontinued.”

Ciaran replied: “Should have kept it year round – it’s your best cold drink.”

Costa launched the Iced Whipped Latte range back in May as part of its Summer menu, which is now being replaced by the new Christmas menu.

The drink consisted of a “super-smooth” layer of whipped coffee, milk and a choice of sauce – vanilla, salted caramel or chocolate.

At the time, the chain said: “Costa Coffee knows how to make a great cup of coffee.

“Just because the heat has gone up, coffee lovers shouldn’t miss out this Summer.

“Whether you love your regular Flat White, Caramel Latte or Americano you can choose to have them as an iced version, taking out the heat – but not the great flavour.

“What’s more, you can personalise your coffee to suit you, whether you want it sweeter with an additional syrup, or opt for a dairy-free milk alternative.”

Many Costa fans were impressed with the cooling drink when it first came out.

Mancunian mum Mel said: “I don’t know if anyone else feels like this, but I always feel like Costa are missing a trick with their iced drinks.

“In comparison to Starbucks, they’re just not hitting that mark.

But she added: “I feel like I’m going to be obsessed with this – it’s going to be a problem for me.

“F*** off. Wow. That is really nice. This is what they need – this is literally what they need to do.

“You know when it’s, like, creamy. That is absolutely lush.”

Influencer Ella Slingsby said: “Honestly, it was really good.

“But the whipped stuff on top was kind of a bit weird and it didn’t have much flavour.

“All of the caramel syrup was at the bottom as you can see.

“I think I would just get a normal iced latte in future – but definitely worth a try.”
