Dress up for less

Rather than splashing out on a dress you might not wear again, you can save cash by renting one instead.

You can hire an outfit from as little as £20 with John Lewis’ rental service, with at least 35 designer brands on offer, including high-end labels such as Whistles and & Other Stories.

As well as dresses, the collection includes trousers, tops and jackets.

When finished, simply return the item and the store takes care of dry cleaning.

There are also apps that offer the same service including By Rotation, which allows anyone to rent out their clothes, bags, belts and other accessories.

Users set their own prices and details such as minimum rental periods and postage costs.

A quick browse showed a velvet jumpsuit from House Of CB worth £179 that you can rent from £5.
