WE’RE in the peak of winter and frosty mornings often lead to problems of condensation, damp and even mould.

Experts usually advise you to keep your heating on and leave the windows open but there are cheaper ways of beating the mould.

Dehumidifiers are excellent for collecting excess moisture in your home without needing to turn the heating on.

Shoppers are flocking to B&Q for a £7.50 dehumidifier that they claim works within days and banishes mould.

B&Q is selling a Blyss curve moisture trap which is perfect for sucking out excess moisture in your home.

The dehumidifier comes with a sleek spill-proof design with a water level so you can keep an eye on how much water it has collected.

It uses refillable donuts and you can even get scented ones. This dehumidifier will hold up to 900ml of water.

The moisture trap has received tons of positive reviews on the B&Q site.

One shopper said: “We bought a couple of these last winter while drying clothes indoors. Great for absorbing any condensation from windows and in the air. Smell lovely too.”

Another said: “Works really well!! Could see a difference straight away.”

“Within two days of use, there was a 1cm depth of water in the collection tank! Condensation gone, black mould gone,” said a third shopper.

These also can come in particularly handy if you have a pile of wet clothes to dry quickly as well.

B&Q has these available in stores and online, though if you are ordering one you will need to factor in a delivery charge.

This type of dehumidifier doesn’t cost anything to run. That’s because it uses materials, such as silica, to trap the moisture.

Electric dehumidifiers can also be effective at removing damp though they will cost you money to run as they plug in at the wall and use the energy to hemp remove the moisture.

They also tend to cost more and prices for electric dehumidifiers usually start at around £30 but prices can go up to £300.

The Blyss dehumidifier does have ongoing costs though, as you’ll need to buy replacement donuts.

B&Q is also selling these and they cost £9.30 for a pack of four (£2.33 each) or £5.85 for two (£2.93).

We couldn’t find the same model at other shops, but Screwfix is selling a similar one – the Unibond Aero 360 moisture absorber for £9.79.

Refills for this one cost £5.99 for a pack of two.

You can also pick up disposable versions for as little as £1.50 each at Poundland, or even less if you buy several on Amazon or eBay.

But they can’t be refilled so you’ll need to use a new one each time they fill up.

It’s always worth comparing prices whichever one you buy to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

How often you have to replace them will depend on the levels of moisture in your home.

In extreme cases of damp and mould, it’s best to keep the windows open to allow airflow, consider using an anti-mould treatment to tackle the problem.

You can seek out an expert and if you are renting speak to your landlord about fixing the issue.

Other things that can help include not leaving your clothes to dry on radiators, and always cooking with ventilation.
