Slots usually get snapped up quickly, so make a note of when you can sign up to get a delivery from your preferred supermarket.

Some grocers such as Tesco offer early access to Christmas delivery slots for customers who pay to be a member.

Capacity filled quickly last year as there was an unprecedented surge in demand for online shopping during the pandemic.

There could be tough competition for slots this year as shoppers will be keen to stock up amid concerns that supermarkets could be hit with shortages.

Some supermarkets have already announced when slots will be available, but others are yet to confirm.

For those that haven’t yet revealed their dates, we’ve made a prediction based on previous years.

These are the key dates to put in your diary if you’re hoping to be one of the first to confirm a Christmas 2021 delivery slot.

Tesco

Tesco delivery saver customers will be able to book slots from 6am on November 16.

Tesco’s delivery saver service costs £7.99 per month and gives shoppers free deliveries on orders worth more than £40.

Shoppers who haven’t signed up to the delivery subscription service will be able to book a slot from November 23, but they’re expected to fill up quickly.

Waitrose

Waitrose shoppers should check online towards the end of this month or early October, as that is Christmas booking dates will be announced.

The supermarket said slots will be available to book at a similar time to last year.

This means Waitrose customers should be able to order a Christmas delivery from early November.

Marks & Spencer

Marks & Spencer’s Food to Order service opens tomorrow.

The supermarket didn’t provide any further details on how to order, so you should check the M&S website for extra details tomorrow morning.

Morrisons

Morrisons said it will reveal when Christmas deliveries will open for bookings “in due course”.

However, based on previous years, we predict that Morrisons delivery pass customers will have access from early November.

Non-delivery pass customers will have to wait until the end of the month. In 2019 slots didn’t open until November 27 for deliveries between December 20 and 24.

The Anytime Pass offers free delivery on orders from Monday to Sunday and costs £65 a year, £40 for six months to £8 a month depending on how you pay.

Ocado

Ocado Smart Pass customers who signed up before September 26 will get early access to Christmas slots.

However, they get booked up very quickly, so even Smart Pass members aren’t guaranteed to get a slot.

We’ve asked Ocado when slots will be available to both Smart Pass members and non-members and we’ll update this article when we have more information.

Asda

Asda hasn’t announced when delivery slots for Christmas will be available but it is likely to be in November, based on previous years.

Last year slots were launched in mid-November and in 2019, they were released on November 19 and November 13 for Delivery Pass customers.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s is yet to confirm when booking slots will go live, but if previous years are a guide then shoppers will have to wait a bit longer to get their orders in.

Last year, a December 20 delivery could only be booked from November 29.

  • For delivery on December 21, slots could be booked from November 30
  • For delivery on December 22, slots could be booked from December 1
  • For delivery on December 23, slots could be booked from December 2
