  • Administrators expect to name preferred bidder ‘imminently’

The US businessman Chris Kirchner has withdrawn his proposal to buy Derby County, ending two months of negotiations. The club’s administrators have said Kirchner’s bid never reached the level of other offers and that they expect to name a preferred bidder soon after receiving an improved submission.

Kirchner, the co-founder and chief executive of the software company Slync.io, announced in October his intention to purchase the Championship’s bottom club, who have been hit with a 21-point deduction this season for entering administration and for further financial irregularities.
