A SPOOKY 11-bedroom mansion abandoned more than seven decades ago has hit the market for just £400,000 for hardened house hunters brave enough to live in it.

The chilling house – secluded on almost seven acres of land – has been likened to the notorious “haunted” site that inspired Amityville Horror.

Creepy pictures of the lonely home on Carleton Island show the crumbling wooden frame interior, with debris strewn across the floor.

The snaps also reveal how much work much renovation work is needed, with a fallen-through ceiling and battered walls just the start of issues.

The isolated property – which has no bathroom – is tucked on the edge of the island close to the Canadian border with three waterfronts surrounding it.

Although there is electricity to the island and water taken from the St Lawrence River, there are no utilities connected to the house.

According to agent Zillow it was constructed back in 1895 and used until 1927.

The property site adds: “Around the World War Era, contractors were allowed to go in and remove the interior and the doors and windows leaving the Villa to the elements.”

It has been branded a “demon house” by social media users.

One Reddit user said: “That’s awful! No one should buy this! Just so I know where to avoid this, what is the address and who is the listing agent?!”

Another wrote: “This terrifying estate could be yours for only $495,000! (Demon removal costs extra).”

A third commented: “I’ll take it even with the demons. Can’t be worse than having roommates.”

The creepy house has been compared to the Dutch colonial home that was the scene of a family massacre in Amityville, New York, in 1974.

Ronald DeFeo slaughtered his parents and four younger siblings and later told cops: “Once I started, I just couldn’t stop.”

The crime horrified America – not least because of the paranormal claims that followed.

George and Kathy Lutz moved into the house with their three kids, but fled weeks later complaining it was possessed by “demonic spirits”.

Alleged evidence of hauntings included slime oozing from the walls and a priest’s hands bleeding after he tried to bless the property.

The real-life horror story inspired a bestselling book and a series of terrifying Hollywood films.

It comes after another home that reminded house hunters of Amityville Horror went up for sale for the bargain price of £56,000.
