The average price of a uniform and PE kit can hit an eye-watering £100 in some cases – and more if you have several kids to buy for.

If you look in the right places, we’ve found you can buy a uniform for under £10.

Shopping around for the best price

The essentials are pretty easy to find as most supermarkets stock them.

However, which supermarket gives you the cheapest deal for a white polo, skirt, trousers, sweatshirt and shirt?

Aldi

There is no doubt the cheapest uniform is supplied by Aldi.

You can pick up all the essentials for your child for just £5.

You can buy online from 3rd July and in store from 7th July. But keep in mind, they may sell out quickly because of their bargain price.

Its TU clothing range has a wide variety of options that will cater to your child’s every need.

You can buy these items online and have them delivered directly to your front door.

Its prices are higher than Aldi’s but much less than other retailers. Some items are on sale already.

Morrisons

Morrisons has some great deals available for uniforms.

However, if your child needs a sweatshirt, you’ll have to go to another store as Nutmeg, Morrison’s clothing line, don’t stock any.

You can order items online and have your child’s new uniform delivered to your door.

Instead it produces cardigans which can be purchased in a pack of two.

Matalan

Matalan produces bargain clothing so if there’s a store closer to you than a local supermarket this might be worth checking out.

Prices range from £4 to £12 per item. However, bundling them together will raise the costs. Items are on available online now.

Second hand school uniforms are a great way to save money and reduce your carbon footprint.

Facebook Marketplace is a great option to start looking. Uniforms will be cheap or in some cases free. You may also be able to buy classroom essentials as well.
