King Charles has been given biodiversity gifts by an Amazonian tribe at a Dubai hotel joined by Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron for the Cop28 summit.

Charles, 75, joined a Commonwealth and Nature reception at the hotel hosted by Secretary General of the Commonwealth Baroness Scotland.

Indigenous leaders from different Commonwealth nations were also in attendance alongside the King.

Joenia Wapichana, 59, President of the FUNAI indigenous organisation in Brazil and of the Truaru tribe of the Roraima state, gave the King a handmade decorated wooden bird.

The bird, ‘Arara’, is a native Amazonian bird which is a ‘symbol of biodiversity’ and mimics the human voice, she said.

‘He liked the present very much and I thanked him for everything he has done to help protect biodiversity in the Amazon,’ she added.
