News website BuzzFeed has laid off 47 HuffPost workers, the majority of them journalists, less than a month after purchasing the rival company.

Jonah Peretti, BuzzFeed’s chief executive, announced the move in a virtual staff meeting on Tuesday, telling staffers the layoffs would “fast-track the path to profitability” for HuffPost.
