A STUNNING beach has gone on the market – but buyers are warned they might never make their money back on it.

The 17-acre stretch in Lincolnshire village Ingoldmells is available for just under £50,000.

Owner Simon Adderley, 57, said it will give the lucky buyer a “rare opportunity to join an exclusive club” of beach owners.

He told Lincolnshire Live: “There are a lot of people who are passionate about beaches.

“We wanted to give someone an opportunity to own one.”

Mr Adderley, of Sutton-on-Sea, bought the land around 15 years ago.

However, he said the time has come to pass it on to someone else.

Around 250 people have already made enquiries – and the National Trust has also expressed an interest.

“It’s an exceptionally rare opportunity,” he said.

He admitted the site won’t be a money-maker – but said for the right person, it’ll fulfil a dream.

“There’s no commercial aspect to it,” he added.

“I loved owning a beach. It was a real pleasure.”

BEACHY KEEN

It’s estimated there’s a maximum of 30 private beaches in the UK.

Last summer, a beach near Dover went on the market for just £1 – but there was a very big catch.

The land, which was owned by the Ministry of Defence, is completely underwater when the tide comes in.

It was first used as a shooting range by the Royal Marines in 1856.

It now forms part of the Kingsdown Site of Special Scientific Interest, six miles from the Dover cliffs and near the town of Kingsdown, Kent.

And on one southern coastline, a simple beach hut sold for a whopping £575,000 – the same price as a five-bed home in Newcastle.

The little wooden cabin commands an eye-watering price tag thanks to its location in Mudeford Spit, Dorset – home to Britain’s most expensive huts.
