As well as the Katsu Chilli Whopper, burger fans can also get a Katsu-flavoured Chicken Royale, or try two meat-free versions.

The Japanese-inspired range is officially available from Tuesday (March 8) but you can get your hands on it early if you download the Burger King app.

The Katsu Chilli Whopper is topped with cheese, katsu curry sauce, pickled slaw, crispy onions and chilli sauce.

The chicken version has crispy onions, mayo and katsu sauce, as well as pickled slaw.

The Whopper is £7.29 for the burger on its own, or £9.29 for a meal.

You can get the Royale for £6.29 with out chips and a drink, or make it a meal for £8.29.

Katie Evans from Burger King UK said: “We’re promising new specials that max on flavour, with vegan and vegetarian options that taste almost identical.”

You can download the Burger King app via Google Play here or App Store here.

To get your free burger just order one of the four new menu items on the app and you’ll be able to select a freebie too.

Free burgers are available from today (March 4) until Monday, and the limited edition burgers will be on the menu until September.

It’s the latest addition to the Burger King menu since it launched vegan chicken nuggets in January.

Fast food rival McDonald’s made a big change to its burger offering earlier this year when it revealed the chicken Big Mac.

But it was forced to take it off the menu after running out – although it’s since made a return.
