The boss is coming back to Broadway.
Bruce Springsteen will reprise his acclaimed, largely solo show, titled “Springsteen on Broadway,” for a limited engagement, starting June 26, at New York’s St. James Theatre. The run is scheduled to conclude Sept. 4.
Mr. Springsteen’s engagement will mark the first Broadway show to open since the industry closed abruptly in March 2020 because of the Covid-19 health crisis. Other Broadway productions are scheduled to begin running in August and September.
“I loved doing ‘Springsteen on Broadway’ and I’m thrilled to have been asked to reprise the show,” Mr. Springsteen said in a statement.
Audience members will be required to be fully vaccinated and present proof of vaccination status to attend Mr. Springsteen’s show. Children under 16 will be exempt from the vaccination rules, but they must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult and will be required to provide proof of a negative Covid-19-test.
“Springsteen on Broadway” became a sensation when it ran on Broadway from October 2017 to December 2018, selling out nightly and grossing $113 million over its 236-performance run, which included seven preview dates. The show, based on Mr. Springsteen’s autobiography “Born to Run,” featured a mix of stories from the New Jersey rocker’s life with performances of his songs.
Mr. Springsteen earned a special Tony Award for the production in 2018.
Tickets for “Springsteen on Broadway” will go on sale June 10. Proceeds from the opening night will benefit a group of New York and New Jersey charities.
