In a bid to make up for labour shortage, the Aussie government is handing out visas to construction workers willing to start a new life in sun-kissed Down Under.

But now they are urgently looking for brickies and plumbers to build them new homes.

With a lack of enough professionals to meet the demand, the government is now looking beyond its borders to fill in the job positions.

As part of its £5.8m fund, the country has introduced a subsidy scheme to attract people from Britain and Ireland.

Workers will be awarded up to £6,000 to help cover the costs of relocating as part of the Construction Visa Subsidy Programme.

Eligible professionals include – civil and structural engineers, plumbers, carpenters, air conditioning mechanics, electricians, glaziers, tilers, concreters, floor finishers, plasterers, painters and decorators and joiners.
